About Ot.tv

The main components of Ot.tv, available on (www.optometrytoday.tv or www.OT-TV.com) are:

1) CET videos
2) Video News
3) Event coverage
4) Features
5) Advertising
6) Archive

1) CET Videos

A new CET video, approved by Vantage and the General Optical Council for either Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians or both, will feature CET multiple choice questions worth two points. This CET exam will be live for two months during which AOP members can take the exam – though anyone can watch the video. Once the exam closing date has expired, the video will drop into the archive, along with the answers to the MCQs, and it can be viewed for non-point related CET/CPD. The frequency of new CETs may increase in line with uptake of this new service – which will be free to users – funded by industry sponsors. Sponsors receive two months lead sponsor positions on the Ot.tv site, promotional video on the site, in addition to promotion within OT Magazine.

2) Video News

Every two weeks the editorial team of Optometry Today magazine and Ten Alps Publishing will put together a brief video update on the fortnight’s news. This will comprise approximately six one minute news items. In addition, occasional breaking news will be filmed and uploaded as available. This will also include news coming from the AOP itself, created and uploaded as required.

3) Event Coverage

Many of the industry’s events will receive coverage on Ot.tv. This may include: News Reports Previews Reviews Promotional footage Additional material supplied by event organisers can be carried for a carriage fee.

4) Features

Video footage which is neither news nor live CET will be carried within the feature section of the site. This can vary from contributed material carried free of charge for non-commercial suppliers such as Optometry Giving Sight, Universities, or the AOP itself, to sponsor-funded features provided by commercial organisations in the industry. Consequently the content itself can range from a charity appeal to short continuing professional development/Education and Training (CPD/CET) videos that are not open to CET points.

5) Advertising

Ot.tv can take paid advertising from within the industry (or indeed, elsewhere). This can take the form of one minute pre-roll adverts, held on a video server and projected prior to a particular sector of video eg, three one-minute videos on the server are marked up for news and are shown on a randomised basis so that one video advert is shown prior to the news. Adverts can also be specifically attached to particular video coverage (not including the sponsored CET), or comprise a short stand-alone promotional video that contains educational content.

6) Archive

All expired CET videos and date expired content is transferred to the video archive where it may be accessed for reference purposes.
